So, I have a 12gb PS3. I don't have enough room to download the 1.09 GT6 update. It says I need at least 80mb more. I only play GT6 on my PS3. There is nothing else stored on this machine except the GT6 game data and the saved data (game save). What are the solutions to my issue?

Buy a bigger HD. Idk if you can add a USB stick to fix it. Maybe download the update to USB and install from there?

Buy a portable hard drive. Back up every thing onto it. Swap in a new larger hard drive or SSD. Place everything on portable hard drive onto new hard drive in PS3.

Is there any solution without swapping in a larger drive?

Apart from the obvious answers already provided, double-check that you don't have any music, videos, or photos saved in either the XMB or in the GT6 game itself. 80mb isn't much, so deleting some forgotten pics might give you enough space.

P.S. If you do decide to install a new HDD and want any advice, I could give some as I've done it to my fat PS3. If you have a dead laptop laying around, you're golden. Any 2.5" HDD will do.

Delete the other shit that you don't want. It works exactly like anything else with memory.

Also, I think there's an option in GT6 called something like "pre-install additional game data to improve performance" or something like that. I know GT5 had it. You could try un-checking that (if you hadn't already), but I don't think that doing so would free up any space unless you uninstalled & reinstalled the game data.

I have a 4bg xbox 360 and I use a 32gb flash drive for storage, works perfectly and only cost me like $25.

This may not help you at all since it's xbox vs ps3
